Wednesday is Ignite Waterloo 6 at Whistle Bear Golf Club. We keep bumping up capacity and still we’re looking at another sold out event. Our budget per event has grown and this time out we’ve had to turn away as many speakers as we accepted. Nice problems to have.

It’s a stellar line-up of speakers and I’m especially looking forward to Stephanie Tanner of Little Mushroom Catering edumacating me on wine. Sounds like I’m not the only one holding a grudge against the LCBO and their buying policies.

I’ve only heard great things about Kevin Magee and his last Tweetstock performance so I can’t wait to see how he does within the constraints of the Ignite format. He’s already lamenting his inability to drive the PowerPoint and dropping down from 200 slides at Tweetstock to a mere 20 slides for Ignite has got him in serious withdrawal. Still pretty confident of him bringing the full on fabulous.

I’m also looking forward to Adrienne Gingerich as she shines a light on internet creeps, Ben Brown talking about ditching road signs and Syd Bolton sharing his love of old computers. They’re joined by the usual Ignite awesomeness and I can’t wait to hear them all. Hopefully the Stanley Cup doesn’t go to a Game 7 which would plant it right in the middle of our event. (look at me pretending I know anything about hockey) Because of a late cancellation of our tried and true co-MC Stephen Heron, it looks like I’ll be joining Erica onstage as MC! Should be a blast.

The fun doesn’t stop there as I’m following it up with Tweetstock in Brantford. The slides are done and sent off and I’m just putting the final polish on my presentation. It’s about the same length as an Ignite talk and I’m facing down the same nagging fear. At least I’m not going in completely blind as I’ll be speaking with ex Igniters Matt Scobel and Jason Dykstra and frankly everyone involved with the event has been nothing short of fantastic.

It’s going to be a great week!
